AAA FUNDING PARTNERS

By partnering with AAA, leading impact-driven organisations are able to offer interventions that contribute to the increased
supply of early-stage capital to local African entrepreneurs, stimulating local economies and ecosystems.

“DGGF’s Seed Capital and Business Development (SC&BD) facility supports the African Angel Academy (“AAA”) – the first online angel investor training programme on the continent – delivered by Viridian, the ViKtoria Business Angel Network (VBAN) and its partners the African Business Angel Network (ABAN), to train new and aspiring angel investors, build stronger business angel networks across the continent, to result in more angel investments and a more conducive early-stage finance sector for African entrepreneurs..

The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs has partnered with the African Angel Academy, along with Briter Bridges, to train and network up to 300 emerging angel investors over the next 3 years; and conduct research into Africa’s growing angel investing activity.

FMO Ventures Technical Assistance Facility, co-funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union has come on board as a partner in 2023. FMO - Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank is a leading impact investor, supporting sustainable private sector growth in developing countries and emerging markets by investing in ambitious projects and entrepreneurs.

The Academy works with the UK-South Africa, UK-Kenya and UK-Nigeria Tech Hubs to deliver bespoke programmes for new angels. To date, we have together trained and networked three cohorts of 240 emerging angel investors from South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and the United Kingdom; while connecting the cohorts to mentorship opportunities and promising startups from the region.

Orange Corners has partnered with AAA to train and mentor members and prospective members from two emerging angel groups – the Congo Business Angel Network (CBA) and Clube Angolano de Investidores Anjo (CAIA) – from the DRC and Angola respectively.

As the Academy’s seed funder, SAIS partnered with the founding consortium to fund the design, development and refinement of the online course and platform; and the delivery of the pilot programme to train 50 new angels and mentor three new angel groups from March 2020 to May 2021.
